Bedford Primary School breakfast club has been running for 9 years. Over 35 pupils ranging from 4-11 attend the school breakfast club every day.

As well as the children getting breakfast at the club it acts as an extension of the learning day with an opportunity for children to do homework in a calm environment.

Peter Dowd MP said: “Breakfast clubs are a great way to ensure children have access to a balanced and filling meal before school, which means they start the day focused and ready to learn. I’d like to thank Kellogg’s for arranging today’s visit and all the staff and volunteers at Bedford Primary School who make the breakfast club possible”.

Head teacher, Ruth Braithwaite said: “We are very proud of our breakfast club and the benefits it provides to our pupils. Our club allows children to start their day on time, feeling calm and ready to learn. It is also an excellent opportunity for pupils to engage in a number of activities, including exercise sessions outdoors”.

49 per cent of schools* said that their club has improved the concentration of the children. Breakfast clubs are fundamental to ensuring that children start their school day ready to learn.

This year, Kellogg’s celebrates 20 years of its breakfast club programme, having served over 70 million breakfasts during that time. Currently, Kellogg’s supports 3,000 breakfast clubs across the UK with training, cereal donations and funding so that schools can run a sustainable pre-school club.
