Launch of UK Young Academy
Peter Dowd MP has today encouraged early-career scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs and professionals in Bootle to apply to join the newly established UK-wide Young Academy.
The UK Young Academy, launched on 14th June, will be a network of early career researchers and professionals, which aims to connect emerging leaders and include their voices in local and global policy discussions. The UK Young Academy will bring together early-career researchers, innovators, clinicians, professionals, academics and entrepreneurs to tap into their collective potential and expertise to tackle important issues in society. They will join the global initiative of Young Academies, with the UK Young Academy becoming the 50th and latest to join the Young Academy movement. The first members of the UK Young Academy will also get the chance to shape the strategy and focus of the organisation.
Commenting on the Young Academy launch, Peter Dowd MP said:
“The UK Young Academy will provide a beneficial network of the UK’s best and brightest minds to help tackle some of society’s biggest challenges, from climate change to social inequality. By facilitating collaboration between early-career sector- and industry-leaders, we can generate creative and effective policy to put the UK at the forefront of future advances.”
To be eligible for the UK Young Academy, applicants will need to:
• Be in the early stages of a professional career
• Have approximately 3-12 years of experience in their field
• Have a track record of excellence
• Reside in the UK
